Ten random things: March 24

Ten photos of my new home and the surrounding neighborhood:
  1. One of my two dressers/bookshelves. I call it the short dresser. It holds my polo shirts and a few sweaters.</br>Bedroom short dresser

  2. Just visible at the center of the photo is the dome of the Wisconsin State Capitol. On the right is Olbrich Park, and between the two is Lake Monona. Taken from the bus stop at the corner of Walter and Atwood.

  3. The shelf mounted above the dressers makes a good place to display my vast collection of plush armadillos.

  4. The SW corner of my room. The cabinet doors above the closet are so tightly fitted that earlier today when I opened the right door, the left one sprang open with such force that it hit the wall, knocking the Monet print off its hanger and on to my laptop, resulting in a big scratch in the middle of the LCD screen. Gr!

  5. The SE corner of my room. On the east wall, an exhibition poster from the 1998 Thomas Moran show at the National Gallery. On the south wall: a poster of Preamble, a mixed media installation at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

  6. This giant chicken was my first clue that my new neighborhood was not governed by an HOA.

  7. My other dresser/bookshelf. I call it the tall dresser. It holds my underwear, socks, tee shirts, shorts, and other stuff. Note the swanky armadillo bank. I have the missing ear somewhere...

  8. A mural painted on the garage door of a house near mine. It's not the easiest thing to read even in person, but it seems to list the following virtues: charity, empathy, happiness, love, peace, and brotherhood.

  9. The NE corner of my room. The window covering was here when I moved it. On the north wall: an exhibition poster from the Maxfield Parrish show at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1999.

  10. Some of my favorite plush ... well, I was going to say animals, but three of these four are extraterrestrial beings (or at least think they are) so I'm not sure the word applies.
