One of the very nicest things about where I lived in northern Virginia was its proximity to the Washington and Old Dominion Trail, a rail trail stretching from Alexandria to Purcellville, almost 45 miles. Here in Madison, I'm very close to another one, the Capital City Trail. (Which is actually only a rail trail for part of its length, but close enough.) The first one of the trails listed above is one I learned about today, when I saw it mentioned in a document I was reviewing. It's a great name, though perhaps a bit redundant, since I believe all drumlns are glacial.
